Rage at the Sun
Date: Saturday, August 18th, 2018
Time: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Location: Wilshire Park, NE. 33rd and Skidmore, Picnic Site A
Join us to socialize and share how we protect ourselves when outdoors. Show off your favorite sunglasses, clothing, hats, and lotions. Bring a picnic lunch and spend time getting to know others with the same concerns. The idea for this event came about from this poem.
Rage at the Sun
You took my wife and the mother of our children
and replaced her with pain and sorrow.
You took flesh from my back
and gave me a fear of a simple walk in the park.
My children and I grieved and healed.
My doctor treated my wound and we monitor my skin.
We now leave the house and enjoy the day
with the protection of glasses, clothing, hats, and lotions.
With knowledge and awareness, we now survive.
We spread the word to help others avoid our pain.
Now we party and shout and dance in the park.
Then we look to the sky and Rage at the Sun.
